Chaise Lounge made by Alex Porbe of Incite Design, Michigan -- this fabulous, sleek piece is made from toilet tank ball valves, recycled car tires and steel. It's priced at $2,200.00 and is a one-of-a kind piece. Completely reminiscent of Le Corbusier, coming to Chicago for the very first time. A perfect addition to Plumbers Hall lineup of fabulous designs and finds!!
ARTIST'S BIO: Alexander Porbe graduated from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI in 1991 where he received a BFA in Industrial Design with an emphasis on product and furniture design. Upon graduating, Porbe chose to open his own business designing and building furniture and functional art. Living and working out of an old crane factory on Detroit’s riverfront afforded him access to numerous industrial scrap yards. These sites ultimately became inspiration for Porbe's design vision as well as suppliers of raw material.
Previous work experiences in furniture shops introduced Porbe to the relationship between designers, architects, and fabricators. These creative partnerships inspired him and became the base from which his company, Incite Design, LLC was built upon. Incite Design specializes in architectural metals fabrication with a focus on restaurant interiors and has given Porbe a new range of tools and resources to work with in his approach to art.
Having gotten the industrial city pioneering bug out of his system, Porbe bought an old farm in Tecumseh, MI with several buildings and barns where he currently works and resides with his two children.
